Is My Chandelier The Right Size?
Don’t just buy an antique brass chandelier because you want to impress a few folks! Take chandelier buying seriously! Here are a few questions to consider when trying to figure out the right size for your chandelier:
How high is your ceiling? The larger it is, the larger your fixture should be. The smaller it is, the less imposing your chandelier needs to be and the more likely a massive brass chandelier would overpower the entire room.
Do you have a table or island located directly under where your chandelier is set to go? And if so, how big is it? Not only do you need to make sure your chandelier isn’t too big or too small for the room, it should also match sizes (and match visually) with your table or island.
What design or form is do you want in a chandelier? Lighter, more “airy” fixtures are typically viewed as larger, and this perception should be taken into account when going over measurements.
Just be careful to ensure your brand new crystal chandelier isn’t too large, as no one likes a fixture that overpowers the room. In this instance, bigger is not always better.
