Kids chandeliers, Brass Chandeliers, Modern Chandeliers, Antique Brass Chandelier and more…
Kingdom Lighting offers a vast array of lighting fixtures, from crystal to brass to antique chandeliers. Before you choose one, there are a few terms you should know. We’ve compiled a short glossary you can use when deciding what kind of chandelier you’d like.
First, here are two of the terms you’re most likely to hear:
Drop: A small piece of glass, typically cut into any one of a number of shapes and drilled at one end so that it can be hung from the chandelier
Bag: a series of crystal drops, formed by strings hanging from a circular frame and looped back into the center underneath
Next, let’s take a look at a few of the different styles of chandelier:
Adam: A light, airy and elegant neoclassical-style chandelier
Dutch: Sometimes referred to as Flemish, this is a type of brass chandelier with a bulbous baluster and arms curving down around a low hung ball
Montgolfiere: A chandelier in the shape of a vintage French hot air balloon
Regency: A larger chandelier with lots of drops. Above a hoop rise multiple strings of beads that grow progressively smaller and join at the top to form a canopy. A bag, with coaxial rings of pointed glass, forms a waterfall beneath. The stem is usually completely hidden.
