Sabon means soap. In what language you ask? Well, it depends who you’re talking to. Sabon is one of those words that means soap in a bunch of different languages. Hebrew, Turkish, Arabic and several other languages all say the same word when describing soap. And Sabon is also the name of a natural soap company with 7 locations in New York City. They pride themselves with having a distinct design space both in their locations and in their offices. In fact, if you walk into their main office in New York, you will immediately notice the crystal chandelier in the middle of this modern-vintage open space. The lighting is also a main fixture in the glass walled meeting room, where a crystal chandelier lights the space. This office was meticulously designed by the company’s owner, who also helped design their famous store window fronts years ago, when the company first started out (they now have special designers doing that).
This new definition of an office space, that combines the old, vintage looking elements (a miniature chandelier on the dusted brick wall) together with modern design elements (Mac computers for all office employees and a state of the art office kitchen) is leading the way in office space design. As more companies are taking the time to design their offices with the same “feel” of their overall mission.
