Outdoor Lighting: Lamps, Sconces, and Crystal Chandeliers

If you have ever seen the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe you may remember seeing a lamppost mid-forest. All it takes to turn a drab outside setting into something interesting is the right kind of lighting. You can do this simply by having lights that showcase the beauty of the space.

In your yard you should have carefully placed lamps. Lampposts or Japanese lanterns are both popular choices for garden spaces near pools. As you get closer to the home, you should have outdoor hanging lights. Landscape lighting can be used to highlight walkways, statues, and other design features in the yard. They give a soft glow.

Patios look best with crystal chandeliers, wall sconces  and other wall lighting. They brighten the area when it starts to get dark. Always aim for materials that are easy to clean or age well with weathering. Brass, copper, tin, and antique gold are all ideal materials. A crystal chandelier is appropriate for outside dining areas as well. They showcase the warm tones in tiles and stucco.
