The question, “how many is too many?” can be applied to any number of scenarios. One is picking lighting for your room. You really can over-light a room just as much as you can under-light it. Choose the lighting for the room carefully. If it’s too dark, you and your guests won’t be able to see well. If it’s too bright you and your guests will expect Jerry Orbach to start interrogating you. Neither scenario is right.
Crystal chandeliers are one way to achieve a balance. They can light a little or a lot depending on placement, the amount of lights on the chandelier, and how well it will reflect on the walls. Maria Theresa chandeliers, for example come with as little as four lights all the way up to forty-nine. This way you can choose a chandelier based on the amount of light you need in your room. The bigger chandeliers are obviously for large open spaces, like halls and foyers. They’re better for businesses like catering halls and hotels. The smaller ones are more personal for restaurants or homes.
The other thing you can do is to get smaller chandelier and pair it with matching wall sconces. This way you can spread the light around without having overkill in one spot.
No matter how you choose to light the room, a crystal chandelier is guaranteed to be a classy fixture.
